Now is your chance to rub shoulders with more than 40 of the greatest sports legends during Legends of the Game Celebrity Tour in Reno, Nev., Thursday, May 29 through Sunday, June 1. The tour includes two days of golf, poker, fundraising, and several exciting parties.
Some of the sport legends scheduled to attend include Gale Sayers, Vida Blue, George Gervin, Rollie Fingers, Tito Fuentes, Ed “To Tall” Jones, Ken Norton, and many more.
Two days of golf will take place at the beautiful LakeRidge Golf Course in Reno on Saturday, May 31 and Sunday, June 1. Golfers who participate will be paired with a celebrity and invited to the star-studded pairings party on Friday, May 30 at the Peppermill Resort Casino. Space for the golf tournament is limited so please reserve your spot early by calling (916) 871-5911. The tournament will also be open to the public to watch for $5. Tickets are available at Bully’s Sports Bar, LakeRidge Golf Course, or at the Peppermill on the day of the event. A shuttle at the Peppermill will provide transportation to the golf course for spectators. Limited parking will be available at LakeRidge Golf Course.
Saturday, May 31 try to bluff some of the sports legends during the Legends of the Game Celebrity Poker Tournament at the Peppermill Resort Casino. The buy-in is $200. More than $10,000 in cash and prizes is up for grabs. Also, poker players who knock out a sports legend will go home with the autographed shirt right off the legend’s back. Part of the proceeds from the golf and poker tournaments will be donated to Reno Philanthropist Evelyn Mount’s Community Outreach. Evelyn Mount has been feeding the area’s hungry from her own home for about 30 years. “This is an exciting event that brings together legendary players in football, baseball, basketball, and boxing to help those in need,” said Scott Hampton, CEO of Legends of the Game Celebrity Tour.
Kick-off the event at the Meet and Greet on Thursday, May 29. Then, help the legends wish Gale Sayers a happy birthday on Friday, May 30.
Information about Evelyn Mount
Evelyn Mount is a Reno philanthropist who has been feeding the area’s hungry from her own home for about 30 years. Every holiday season Mount delivers food baskets to thousands of families. For Thanksgiving 2007, Mount provided dinners to 4,000 Nevadans who otherwise would not have had anything. Mount and her late husband, Leon, founded Community Outreach in 1976. They started by feeding about 25 families with food they cooked in their own kitchen. Mount knows what it is like to be poor. Growing up in Louisiana, she was one of 11 brother and sisters and three cousins who shared the family’s four-bedroom house.
