Peppermill Awards

At the Peppermill, we know that our success is created by thousands of smaller successes, those of our Team Members. And we’re not the only ones who think so. A tradition of excellence is found at the Peppermill as we continue to be recognized by numerous prestigious organizations and publications. The Peppermill was selected one of the Top 10 Casinos by MSN with Citysearch in America, and each year is voted Best of Reno in more than 100 categories by local, regional and national publications. Here is a sampling of our accomplishments.

APEX - Award for Performance Excellence

The Peppermill has been selected as the first Casino and only the second company in Nevada to be selected for the State of Nevada’s highest award for performance excellence, The Silver State Governor’s Award for Performance Excellence (APEX).

This state award which uses the same national criteria as the Malcom Baldridge requires a comprehensive commitment to Human Resources, exceptional guest service, and innovative leadership. Past national Malcom Baldridge awardees include the Ritz-Carlton, Motorola,  Boeing and Federal Express. Prior Nevada awardees in one of the four possible award levels include Boeing, Hometown Health, Nevada Federal Credit Union and St. Rose Dominion.

Business Leadership Symon Awards

The Peppermill was awarded the 2007 Employer of the Year, Large Business Symon Award for its outstanding commitment and results towards employing people with disabilities. In 2007, the Peppermill hired more than 30 individuals with disabilities. To assure that a new employee’s transition is smooth, department supervisors must undergo disability training. The Symon Awards are presented by the Business Leadership Network, a non-profit coalition dedicated to improving opportunities for businesses and people with disabilities.

Women of Achievement

The Peppermill is a proud sponsor of the Women’s Fund’s Salute to Women of Achievement. Each year, the Peppermill publicly applauds individual women within the company for their career and personal achievements, as well as their service to the community. Honorees selected are honored at an awards dinner. The Peppermill’s honoree for 2008 if Tanya Kunze, Special Events Director.

Adelante Award

The Peppermill honors Team Members who have contributed to the achievement of the Hispanic community through the Adelante Award. Selected Team Members are honored at an awards dinner which helps raise money for Nevada Hispanic Services.
